2 planes touch wings on ground, flight delays at Jakarta airport

Padang Ekspres.net-The wings of two grounded planes belonging to private carrier PT Lion Air collided on Thursday at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, causing slight damage to one plane and delaying both flights.

Airport operator Angkasa Pura II spokesman Ferry Utamayasa said that one plane was heading to Padang, West Sumatra, with flight number JT 358 and flight registration number PKLHH and the other to Makassar with flight number JT 796 and registration number PKLFF.

“Both planes bumped into each other when they were being towed out of their respective aprons. They were parked near each other, one in Apron A-73 and the other in Apron A-71,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

The contact caused a tear in the left hind wing of the plane destined for Makassar.

Passengers of both routes were redirected to other flights, Ferry said.
