Brig. Gen. Putut to be sworn in as West Java Police chief

Padang Gen. Put. Eko Bayuseno was sworn in as West Java Police chief on Thursday, replacing Insp. Gen. Suparni Parto.

"After a welcoming ceremony at 7 a.m., a speech was given by the new police chief and outgoing chief," West Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said, adding that today's agenda was limited to police officers only.

A public event to recognize Eko's inauguration will be held Friday, and is expected to be attended by the governor of West Java, the Siliwangi Military Commander, the chairman of West Java High Prosecutor's Office and other local figures.

Suparni is to become the deputy chief of the National Police intelligence unit.[tjp]
